Promise Healthcare is excited to announce that it has been awarded a prestigious grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Promise Healthcare is one of only 16 health centers in Illinois to receive this funding, which will support the expansion of mental health and substance use disorder services across Champaign County and surrounding areas.
This vital funding will allow Promise Healthcare to introduce new counseling, psychiatry, and substance use disorder programs to address the growing mental health crisis in a region that has been federally designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area for Mental Health.
“This grant is a game-changer for our community,” said Promise Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Director James Hamilton. “We are committed to breaking down barriers to mental health care and ensuring that everyone in Champaign County can access the services they need. This funding will allow us to meet the demand for critical behavioral health services and make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health and substance use challenges.”
With the expansion, Promise Healthcare aims to provide a wider range of services to individuals and families who are currently underserved while also integrating these services into its broader health offerings.
Hamilton added, “Mental health and substance use disorders often go untreated due to lack of access or stigma. This grant will enable us to provide comprehensive care in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Whether it’s through counseling, psychiatry, or substance use treatment, our goal is to help individuals regain control of their lives and build healthier futures.”
Promise Healthcare remains dedicated to offering compassionate, affordable, and accessible healthcare to all community members, regardless of income or insurance status. By expanding its mental health services, Promise continues its mission of serving the people of Champaign County with high-quality, comprehensive care.
